I love seeing these kind of stories in Fantasy Quest stories.
Seeing the face of selfishness, cruelty, and greed.

It really shows a reason why some people are so quick to distrust others or give reason why they issues of anxiety and abandonment when adventuring or hanging out with others. Not every boss you have is going to be a good person or even a good leader.

So when you're "good" hero/leader steps in, it really does feel like a burden or that baggage really take off.
